Keeping Your Treatment on Track
One very important thing you can do to help control your seizures is to stay on track and remember to take your medicines every day. Here are some tips to help you stay on track with the treatment plan you and your neurologist or epileptologist developed:
- Make sure you are seeing the right kind of doctor to treat your epilepsy. If you don’t have a neurologist or epileptologist, you can find one here.
- Carefully follow all of your doctor’s instructions.
- Pay close attention every time you refill your prescription and pick up your epilepsy medicine at the pharmacy.

Manage Your Prescriptions
Follow these steps to help manage your prescription medicines:
- Use one pharmacy to help maintain consistency.
- Write down the names of all of your medicines, along with the dosage and who makes it. Take this list with you to any doctor’s appointments or trips to the pharmacy.
- Talk to your pharmacist about each medicine you’re picking up, why it is prescribed, and how you should take it. Pharmacists are experts in how medicines work and interact with each other.
- Build a relationship with your pharmacist just as you do with your doctor. Say “Yes” the next time you are asked if you want to talk to the pharmacist.
Always read your prescription label.
